FROM
SAN JOSE through Braulio Carrillo
From downtown San Jose, take
" calle 3" ( 3rd street ) North and
follow the signs for Limon. There is only one
road all the way there, about 2.5 hour drive.
This route will take you through the cloud forest
area and very often you will hit a little rain
- but it is a gorgeous ride!!
When you get to Limon you will
continue pass the cementery and you will start
to come into a more populated area. Watch for
signs for "Sixaola" or "Cahuita".
At the light you will make a right hand turn
at a small corner. After the turn and pass the
small bridge is a stright road all the way.
From Limon Cahuita is about 45 min, and Puerto
Viejo is half an hour more.
FROM
SAN JOSE through TURRIALBA
This rute is a bit more complicated.
Unfortunately during the rainy season may be
the only way to get in. Non the less is a 5
hour drive highly atractive and full of picturesque
scenery. FIRST you need to find "Avenida
Central" ( Central Avenue) NEXT follow
east way. Signs will say "SAN PEDRO"
later "CARTAGO". Once you enter CARTAGO
look for signs that say " PARAISO"
and "TURRIALBA" make sure you are
on "Avenida 3" (3rd avenue) heading
East. Continue fallowing signs as you go
till you get to "TURRIALBA". Once
in TURRIALBA you will first see a sign that
sais "CATIE" or "LIMON"
or "SIQUIERRES". You want to head
to "SIQUIERRES" and from then signs
will say "LIMON" and than you are
at same poit as above...down to Paradise.
